A unique adventure in to the lesser known regions of Central Greece. This brand new tour will take us to the wine regions of the mystical Muses Valley, Tyrnavos, the island of Evia and Northern Attica. We’ll visit the legendary ancient site of Delphi, soak in the stunning scenery of Mount Parnassos, experience the beautiful Pelion peninsula with its villages perched on steep hillsides, and take ferry rides across the blue waters of the Aegean.

Day 1: Saturday 18th September
Arrival and Welcome Dinner. This evening congregate at our hotel for a briefing about the tour and to meet your fellow travellers.  We will have dinner together at a nearby local restaurant.

Day 2: Sunday 19th September
Muses Valley and Arachova. Checking out of our hotel, we drive 2 hours west to Muses Valley, home to the rare indigenous grape Mouxtaro. Today we’ll experience the unique landscape of this region, visit two wineries and taste a range of wines, and have lunch at one. Continuing west we arrive at the beautiful town of Arachova and check in to our hotel for the next 2 nights.

Day 3: Monday 20th September
Delphi and Parnassos Mountains. This morning we have private guided tour of the mystical classical site of Delphi. This afternoon there will be free time to explore the town of Arachova. Early evening we take a scenic drive over the Parnassos mountains to a family winery where we will have a tasting and barbeque dinner. Return to hotel.

Day 4 Tuesday 21st September
Echinus. Check out and drive north into Central Greece to visit one of Greece’s most prestigious wineries where we will have a tour, tasting and lunch. Late afternoon continue north towards Volos and the beautiful Pelion peninsula. In the village of Portaria check into our gorgeous hotel converted from a traditional mansion, our base for the next 3 nights.

Day 5 Wednesday 22nd September
Relaxation in Pelion. Free day to relax and soak up the atmosphere of Portaria. This afternoon a trip to some of the local villages to experience more of the traditional architecture and stunning scenery of the peninsula. This evening a group dinner.

Day 6 Thursday 23rd September
Tyrnavos. Drive north to the wine region of Tyrnavos, best known for the Limnonia grape. Visit two wineries for tours and tastings with lunch at one. Early evening return to Portaria

Day 7 Friday 24th September
Ferry to Evia. Check out and drive south to the ferry port of Glyfa to take the short ferry crossing to the island of Evia. Drive to a family winery with stunning views over the Gulf for a tour and tasting. Continue further into Evia to our lunch stop. Late afternoon drive towards the capital of the island and on to Eretria to check into our final hotel, where we will be for 2 nights.

Day 8 Saturday 25th September
More Evia! This morning visit 2 wineries for tours and tastings. Our group meal today will either be lunch at the 2nd winery or dinner at our hotel. The afternoon will be free for relaxation and swimming.

Day 9 Sunday 26th September
Northern Attica and Farewell. Check out and drive to Eretrea ferry and cross back to the mainland. Visit 2 wineries in the region of North Attica, the first a well-known winery with a wine museum, and the 2nd a family winery where we’ll have lunch. Late afternoon depart and drive to Athens airport. Continue to central Athens for those who want to extend their stay.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE
Vaccinations: to ensure that we can offer peace of mind to our customers, we will require proof that you have had at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and preferably both in order to join this tour. If you have a medical condition which prevents you from being vaccinated, we will accept sight of a letter from your GP explaining why you cannot be vaccinated. In which case we will also require proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken up to 72 hours before the start of the tour.

Covid Postponement Rules: If the coronavirus situation/UK government advice nearer the time prevents the tour from going ahead, we will postpone to a later date. At that time you will have the option of transferring your booking to the new dates with no change fee OR receiving a full refund of all monies paid for the tour.

PRICING INFORMATION

Price Includes:

  • £1,650 per person sharing a double or twin room.
  • 8 nights’ bed and breakfast accommodation in 4- and 5-star hotels
  • Air-conditioned coach transport throughout the tour
  • Tastings at 11 different wineries
  • 9 lunches or dinners at wineries or local restaurants with wine (BYO at one dinner)
  • Entrance tickets to Delphi and its museum with a private guide
  • Services of tour/wine guide Christos Ioannou

Supplements:

  • Single occupancy of a double/twin room (limited number of single rooms available): £300
  • Room Upgrade (2 available): £175 per person, only available for 2 people in a double room

A non-refundable deposit of £412.50 per person is payable when booking. The remaining balance is due eight weeks before the start of the tour. Your money will be held in a secure Client Deposit Account and is fully protected.

ACCOMMODATION

  • Athens, Hotel Elia Ermou (1 night). Newly opened in 2018, in the heart of Athens, just 800 meters from Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum, the 4 star Elia Ermou offers accommodation in luxurious rooms and suites. On the 7th floor guests can enjoy fabulous views of the Acropolis from the bar and restaurant ‘Athens View Balcon’, a dip in the rooftop jacuzzi or a relaxing treatment at the Wellness Centre.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Taxis can pull up outside this hotel but buses are not able to as the road is quite narrow. On 19th September when we check out of the hotel and leave Athens we will have to walk for 5 minutes with our luggage from the hotel to our tour bus

  • Arachova, Ellinon Thea (2 nights). 6 miles from the archaeological site of Delphi this 4 star boutique hotel is located 5 minutes’ walk from the center of the picturesque town of Arachova. Wooden floors and stone walls adorn the comfortable rooms which have flat screen TV and minibar. On the ground floor there is a bar and communal lounge and in the basement a heated pool.
    ROOM UPGRADE: Junior Suite
  • Portaria, Despotiko Hotel (3 nights). Housed in a renovated 19th-century mansion, this 4 star design hotel is located in the centre of scenic Portaria, a village in the beautiful Pelion peninsula. The individually decorated, spacious rooms have cable LCD TV, marble bathrooms, and views of Mount Pelion or the Pagasitikos Gulf. The light, airy reception area has a cosy bar. There is a large outdoor swimming pool.
    ROOM UPGRADE: Executive Double
  • Eretria Evia, Hotel Negroponte (2 nights). The 5-star Negroponte Resort is on the seafront overlooking the Aegean Sea. It has a large outdoor pool, as well as an indoor swimming pool and well-equipped fitness room, tennis court and a choice of restaurants and bars. Rooms are luxuriously decorated and feature a satellite TV and balcony with sea views.

TRAVEL

Please note that flights are not included in the cost of the tour so you will need to book your own travel to/from Athens.

There are many direct/non-stop flights from London – from Heathrow with British Airways and Aegean Airlines, from Gatwick with Easyjet and from Stanstead and Luton with Ryanair.

The tour will start at around 7pm in the lobby of our hotel, so if you plan to arrive on that day, Saturday 18th September, we recommend that you book a flight which arrives in Athens no later than 4 pm. The tour officially ends at Athens airport at 5.30 pm on Sunday 26th, and if you are travelling back to London that evening we recommend that you do not book a flight with a departure time earlier than 7.30 pm.

Travel throughout the tour will be in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach.
