If you have ever wanted to visit this fascinating area, discover the secret of the bubble, and find out what makes champagne the celebratory drink par excellence, then this is the weekend for you. You will see the miles of cellars dug out of chalk where millions of bottle age gracefully, learn how champagne is made, and discover what makes it so special. You will visit one Grande Marque producer and, the highlight of the weekend…three hand-picked family producers who offer unbeatable quality and value as well as a very personal experience. There will also be time to explore the beautiful city of Reims from our centrally located hotel and sample its fine restaurants.

Day 1: Friday 16th July
Around 7am, meet our coach outside the Hilton Doubletree Hotel, Victoria and set off towards Folkestone and the EuroTunnel Terminal. After making a brief stop at Stop 24 service station to collect some passengers we continue to Passport Control. With a short break in the terminal for a refreshment/comfort break we’ll rejoin our coach and board the train. The crossing takes around 45 minutes. Once in France we join the motorway and drive across the gently undulating plains of northern France to the Champagne region, stopping for lunch en-route at a motorway service station.

Arriving in Reims late afternoon we’ll go straight to one of the Grande Marque Champagne Houses for a tour of their extensive cellars and a glass of their non-vintage champagne.

This evening is free to try one of the many restaurants in Reims. There may be an optional group dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2: Saturday 17th July
After breakfast we head towards Epernay and the Montagne de Reims. We will visit one family producer in the morning and one in the afternoon. These producers are all situated in the best villages and are hand-picked for the quality and value which they offer. At each one we will taste various champagnes from their range and you will be able to buy supplies at very attractive prices (the coach has plenty of luggage space!). At lunchtime there will be free time to wander around the town of Epernay, home to several Grande Marques.

Late afternoon, we return to our hotel in Reims and the evening is free to try more of the many restaurants and bars.

Day 3: Sunday 18th July
After breakfast we check out of our hotel and head back towards the vineyards to visit another family producer for a final tour and tasting. Late morning we return to Reims where there will be some free time to enjoy lunch or to explore the town – maybe a visit to the majestic cathedral.

Early afternoon we drive back to Calais and the Eurotunnel terminal. After our crossing we expect to arrive at Stop 24 at around 7.30pm and at London Victoria at around 9pm.
