Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Loire Valley has world-famous vineyards and fairy-tale chateaux. The Loire is the longest river in France and vineyards stretch along 550 kms of it. It’s the 3rd biggest Appellation Controlee area in France and produces every style of wine – Sparkling, Dry Whites, Rose, Reds and Dessert Wines – so is a treasure-trove for wine lovers. It’s particularly well-known for Chenin Blanc, which comes in a range of styles, and Cabernet Franc. This tour will focus on the central part of the Loire, Anjou-Saumur, and we’ll visit wineries in several appellations including Savennieres, Coteaux du Layon, Saumur-Champigny, Chinon and Bourgeuil. We’ll enjoy delicious meals, and experience the history and landscape of the region.
