Our premium tour of Bordeaux is luxury all the way! Accommodation at the centrally-located boutique 4 star Hotel de Seze; meals at gastronomic restaurants; tastings of fine Bordeaux wines; a tour of the Cité du Vin. An added bonus is that the tour is scheduled to coincide with the last two days of the Fête du Vin where there will be hundreds of wines for tasting.

Bordeaux is best-known for some of the greatest red wines in the world, but it’s also produces world-class dry whites and dessert wines, and we’ll taste all styles. We’ll see the beautiful chateaux which dot the famous communes of the Medoc, wander through the hilltop town of St Emilion, and experience the grandeur of the city of Bordeaux with its opulent buildings.

Day 1: Saturday 24th June
Arrival, Pessac-Leognan, Sauternes, and Fete du Vin
Meet at Bordeaux airport at 11.55 (to coincide with the British Airways flight from London – see Travel Information. Transfer by coach to Pessac Leognan, group lunch at the gastronomic restaurant of a Chateau. Tasting of the dry white and red wines of this appellation. Visit a producer in Sauternes or Barsac to learn about and taste the luscious dessert wines. Continue to Bordeaux, early evening check-in to the 4-star Hotel de Seze (4 nights)  Free evening to visit the Fete du Vin where there will be dozens of wine producers and negociants from all over the region, and hundreds of wines to taste.

Day 2: Sunday 25th June
Bordeaux City – Cité du Vin, and more Fête du Vin
This morning visit two of the City’s unique attractions – the extraordinary digital art show in the old submarine base, Bassins des Lumieres. Then the Cité du Vin, France’s pre-eminent wine museum. Possible river cruise with lunch on board or group lunch at a restaurant. The rest of the day is free to explore the city and/or enjoy the Fete du Vin.

Day 3: Monday 26th June
Medoc Part 1 – Margaux and St Julien
This morning drive north to the Medoc, for our first day in this region. We’ll concentrate on the communes of Margaux and St Julien and visit one chateau in the morning and one in the afternoon. Lunch today at a gastronomic restaurant in one of the villages. Late afternoon return to our hotel. Free evening.

Day 4 Tuesday 27th June
The Right Bank and St Emilion
This morning we head to the ‘Right Bank’ to visit the appellations of St Emilion and Pomerol. The wines of these communes are based predominantly on Merlot, so a different style to the Left Bank. Lunch today is at a Michelin starred restaurant in St Emilion and there will be time afterwards to wander the cobbled streets of this beautiful town. Late afternoon return to hotel. Free evening.

Day 5 Wednesday 28th June
Medoc Part 2 – Pauillac and Ste Estephe
After breakfast, check-out and drive back to the Medoc. Today we will concentrate on the communes of Pauillac and Ste Estephe. But first we’ll visit a cooper to see the fascinating process of making oak barrels. Final lunch at a gastronomic restaurant or at a chateau.

Around 6pm depart and drive to Bordeaux airport to arrive by 7.15pm in time for the British Airways flight to London Gatwick

Please note that flights are not included in the cost of the tour so you will need to book your own travel to/from Bordeaux airport. The recommended group flights are with British Airways:

  • Saturday 24th June BA 2786 departs London Gatwick 09.10 arrives Bordeaux 11.55
  • Wednesday 28th June BA 2789 departs Bordeaux 21.10 arrives London Gatwick 21.55

Transfers by coach from/to Bordeaux airport are included and will tie in with the above flights. If you make alternative travel arrangements you will need to be at Bordeaux airport in time to meet the BA flight on 24th June. The tour will end at Bordeaux airport around 7.15pm on 28th June.

or all 4 nights of the tour we will be based at the 4 star boutique Hotel de Seze. Very centrally located, it’s just a 5 minute walk from the ‘Golden Triangle’ of the Grand Opera House, the Place des Grands Hommes, and the Cours d’Intendance.

Originally an 18th-century mansion, the décor is classic and elegant but also contemporary, blending simplicity and refinement. There is a stylish restaurant, bar, lounge, fumoir, and also a spa (additional cost). Rooms are equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, a safe, a mini bar and a flat-screen TV. WI-FI access is available and free throughout the hotel.

Room Upgrade to Deluxe (2 available and only for 2 people sharing a double or twin room).

ROOM TYPES: The tour is costed on the following basis:

  • Classic Room: for single travellers, double room for single occupancy (10 rooms reserved)
  • Superior Room: for two people sharing a double or twin room (4 rooms reserved)
  • Deluxe Room: upgrade for 2 people sharing a double or twin room (2 rooms reserved)

It is possible that Superior Rooms may be available for single travellers to book for an additional supplement (price £125) in addition to the single supplement. If you are interested in this option please let us know when you book.
