Day 1: Friday 18th February
Arrival in Cape Town and own transfer to The Westin Cape Town hotel. Time to relax and freshen up. Mid-afternoon meet your fellow travellers for an afternoon orientation tour of Cape Town followed by a welcome Group tasting and dinner.

Day 2: Saturday 19th February
Morning visit to Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Cape Point and Boulders Beach. Continue to Constantia, the nearest wine region to Cape Town, for lunch and tasting at a winery. Late afternoon return to Cape Town. Free evening. Overnight at the Westin Cape Town.

CONSTANTIA: on the southern outskirts of Cape Town, Constantia is the Cape's oldest wine region – Simon van der Stel founded the first wine farm in 1685! Situated on the Southern slopes of the Table Mountain range and its world-renowned floral kingdom, and rooted in ancient soils, the vineyards benefit from cool sea breezes blowing in from False Bay.

Day 3: Sunday 20th February
Leave Cape Town and head south-west driving through the regions of Elgin and Bot River and past Hermanus Valley to Stanford. Visit a unique winery for a vineyard tour and tasting followed by lunch in their highly regarded restaurant. Drive back to Hermanus, overnight at Harbour House Hotel. Free evening.

HERMANUS: The Hermanus Wine Route is nestled amongst the spectacular scenery of Walker Bay and the picturesque area known as the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Its proximity to the Ocean makes this a classic ‘cool climate’ region ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. There are just fifteen wineries, each growing small volumes of premium quality wine in carefully and sustainably managed vineyards.

Day 4: Monday 21st February
Today visits to two wineries in Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, premier region for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Morning tasting at one winery. Continue to 2nd winery for tasting and lunch at the owner’s private house! Late afternoon, return to Hermanus for some free time to enjoy the town. Free evening, overnight at Harbour House Hotel.

Day 5: Tuesday 22nd February
Depart Hermanus this morning and drive 300kms east along the Garden Route. After a stop for lunch, early afternoon arrival at Botlierskop Game Reserve, our base for the next two nights. In the afternoon enjoy a private Game Drive led by the in-house rangers accompanied by some liquid refreshments! This evening enjoy a buffet dinner in the grand dining room of the Firehouse Restaurant. Overnight at Botlierskop.

Day 6: Wednesday 23rd February
Optional early morning Game Drive followed by breakfast. Mid-morning optional visit to a local winery who specialise in fortified wines and brandies. Or lie in and stay by the pool! Return to Botlierskop with free time for lunch and relaxation, maybe a spa treatment? Mid-afternoon there will be another Game Drive to a different part of the reserve. Dinner at the Firehouse Restaurant. Overnight at Botlierskop.

Day 7: Thursday 24th February
After breakfast, check out and drive west back towards the main wine regions. Stop in Robertson for a tasting and lunch at a winery. Late afternoon, continue to the beautiful town of Franschhoek, the gourmet capital of South Africa, check in at Marriott Protea Hotel. Free evening to enjoy the town and try one of the MANY fine restaurants.

ROBERTSON: dubbed the 'valley of vines and roses', Robertson’s lime-rich soils make the area eminently suitable for racehorse stud farming and, of course, winegrowing. Situated in the Breede River valley, the river is the lifeblood of this relatively arid, dry region. It’s best known for the quality of its Chardonnays and Sauvignons, but it produces a wide range of styles.

Day 8: Friday 25th February
Visit two wineries in the premier region of Stellenbosch, including lunch at one. There are many to choose from and we will focus on the Eastern end of the Valley! Late afternoon return to Franschhoek. Free evening to enjoy the town. Overnight in Franschhoek Marriott Protea Hotel.

STELLENBOSCH: the Napa Valley of South Africa, this is the country’s most prestigious wine valley. Stellenbosch has a wide variety of terroirs and so is split into a number of sub-regions to reflect this – Simonsberg, Devon Valley and Bottelary are some of these. There are so many great producers here that it’s hard to choose only two to visit!

Day 9: Saturday 26th February
Mid-morning check out of our accommodation and visit two wineries in Franschhoek including lunch at one. Late afternoon return to Cape Town and check into the Westin Hotel Cape Town. Optional final group get together.

FRANSCHHOEK: nestled between towering mountains, this is the food and wine heartland of the country, where splendid wines are crafted and top chefs create international cuisine. One of the oldest towns in South Africa, Franschhoek is a mecca for foodies and wine lovers from around the world.

Day 10 Sunday 27th February
TOUR ENDS after breakfast. Free time for sightseeing – maybe a visit to Table Mountain, Robben Island or Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before own transfer to the airport.

WINERIES: Details of the wineries we will be visiting are available on request. This the fifth tour we have organised to South Africa so we have very good contacts with wineries and know the country well!
