Southern Portugal Wine Tour
Lisbon, Setubal and Alentejo are perhaps not the most famous of wine regions, but Southern Portugal has much to offer the curious wine lover. Close to Lisbon, which has its own vineyards, is Setubal, best known for its legendary fortified wines produced from Moscatel. In Alentejo there are rolling hills covered in vineyards, cork forests, whitewashed villages, and Moorish castles, as well as the Unesco World Heritage site of Evora. Alentejo is home to a range of indigineous grapes including Trincadeira, Alfrocheiro Preto, Arinto, Antão Vaz and Fernão Pires, and there are some international varieties too.
